The Most Underappreciated Nintendo Characters.

(AfroGamers.com) Nintendo is regarded by many as “The Godfather Of Video Game Companies” and there are actual reasons as to why that’s a legitimate statement. Nintendo is the oldest video game company in the entire world which was founded on September 23, 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi. They have definitely played a major role in video game history by creating some of the most iconic legendary characters in video game history like Mario & Link, but there are also many characters that are heavily underappreciated by the company.

Here are the most underappreciated Nintendo Characters

Luigi

Luigi has been a part of Nintendo since his first appearance on Mario Brothers game for the arcades back in 1983. He was also a regular on other Super Mario Bros. games until Super Mario 64 was released as one of the very first games for The Nintendo 64 in 1996. Ever since the release of Super Mario 64, he’s been heavily pushed aside or reduced to being a glorified sidekick in so many Mario related games for the beloved legendary Mario character. Even during “The Year Of Luigi” back in 2013 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Luigi’s debut in The Mario Bros. arcade game, he was still overshadowed by the popular Mario. Luigi in my opinion deserves more respect than he’s currently getting right now from Nintendo.

Fox McCloud

Another one of the most underappreciated Nintendo characters on this list is the main character of the heavily underappreciated video game series “Star Fox” is the main character Fox McCloud. Fox McCloud is the leader of a team of anthropomorphic animals in the Lylat planetary system called “Star Fox” whose mission is to protect “Star Fox” from any warring threats especially the invading force who is referred to as “Andross”. It’s a shame that Nintendo hasn’t used Fox McCloud to his fullest potential ever since his introduction by Nintendo in the 1993 SNES game of “Star Fox”, but I hope that changes by them releasing more “Star Fox” games for The Nintendo Switch since it’s the hottest handheld console out right now.

Kid Icarus

Kid Icarus is definitely one of the most underappreciated Nintendo characters because he hasn’t been seen in many Nintendo related games over the years. Kid Icarus the video game was released for The NES in 1986 and wasn’t as well received. When they released the sequel called “Kid Icarus: Of Myths & Monsters” for The OG Game Boy, it was well received. After that, Nintendo threw the character to the wayside for 20 years until Kid Icarus: Uprising was released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012. It’s very sad that this character doesn’t get nearly the love and recognition he deserves from Nintendo.

The Conclusion – Even though Nintendo has put out many classic memorable games over the years, but unfortunately, they treat certain characters like Luigi, Fox McCloud, & Kid Icarus as if they didn’t even exist.
